MS-DOS (Microsoft Disk Operating System) is an operating system for x86-based personal computers mostly developed by Microsoft. It was the most commonly used member of the DOS family of operating systems, and was the main operating system for IBM PC compatible personal computers during the 1980s to the mid-1990s, when it was gradually superseded by operating systems offering a graphical user interface (GUI), in various generations of the graphical Microsoft Windows operating system by Microsoft Corporation.
Command Prompt is a feature of Windows that provides an entry point for typing MS‑DOS (Microsoft Disk Operating System) commands and other computer commands. The most important thing to know is that by typing commands, you can perform tasks on your computer without using the Windows graphical interface.
Now I going to tell you how to enable or disable the MS-DOS using Local Group Policy Editor in Windows.
- Open Group policy (Start -> Run -> type gpedit.msc)
- navigate to 'User Configuration\Administrative Templates\System'
- In the right panel double-click on “Prevent access to the command prompt”.
- Select the Enabled radio button, click OK.
- Restart the Computer.
